有別於主要橄欖油外銷國家所生產的橄欖油會混其他國家的油，雖然希臘橄欖油總生產量屈居世界第三， 但是希臘具有數種享譽全世界的優良品種以及原產區。

80％的希臘橄欖油是特級初榨，這是世界排名第一的類別劃分，遠高於意大利與西班牙。這使得希臘是世界上最大的特級初榨橄欖油的生產國。

Extra Virgin Olive Oil accounts for less than 10% of all olive oil that is produced by different countries. The percentage is much higher in Mediterranean countries, i.e. Greece: 80%, Italy: 45%, and Spain 30%. It is important to note that 80% of the olive oil from Greece is Extra Virgin, which is ranked as one of the best by the world classification system. This makes Greece the world’s largest producer of Extra Virgin Olive Oil.
